Journey to Somewhere
The Glen Rock School District is recognized among the best, not only in New Jersey, but in the country. In recent years, it has received numerous accolades and appeared in the top tier of a number of well-respected surveys of successful public school districts. Having one of the top performing high schools in the state, Glen Rock is extremely proud of the accomplishments of its students and staff. That said, the district also recognizes that the pursuit of excellence can come at a cost. There is a critical need for maintaining balance in the lives of our youth. The "pressure cooker" of competing in today's competitive global arena begins early in a child's educational career and continues well beyond graduation.

The Glen Rock Board of Education, in conjunction with Superintendent Dr. Paula Valenti and senior administration, has launched "Journey to Somewhere," a multi-faceted, dynamic initiative aimed at providing students - with assistance from their parents and teachers - with the tools necessary to achieve their own personal success through a healthy, well-balanced experience.

As part of this initiative, the district will utilize this page as a platform to showcase related activities in our classrooms, public events, appropriate links, and suggested reading materials, among other things. Please visit this page often for updates and additions.

At Challenge Success, we believe that our society has become too focused on grades, test scores, and
performance, leaving little time for kids to develop the necessary skills to become resilient, ethical, and motivated learners. We provide schools and families with the information and strategies they need to create a more balanced and academically fulfilling life for their kids. Learn more about our impact, how to support our mission, and our book, Overloaded and Underprepared: Strategies for Stronger Schools and Healthy, Successful Kids.

Common Sense Media
We have added a link (at right) to the website for Common Sense Media, an initiative dedicated to "...helping kids thrive in a world of media and technology. We empower parents, teachers, and policymakers by providing unbiased information, trusted advice, and innovative tools to help them harness the power of media and technology as a positive force in all kids’ lives."

Please take a moment to explore the site. It contains much useful information on helping children to safely navigate the increasingly complex world of technology and media in which they live.

We would like to thank parent Mrs.Janet Romano for joining us
